Library Personnel Definition Classified Position, Regular Full-Time Term of Employment 26 pay periods FLSA Non-Exempt Supervision Received Director of Library Services President Supervision Exercised None General Statement of Duties The Library Engagement Technician is responsible for maintaining the circulation desk, assisting patrons, supporting library programming, maintaining library records and statistics, and assisting with the daily operations of the library under the direction of the Director of Library Services. The incumbent will assist the department in meeting BFCC mission statements and goals. Specific Area of Duties• Check materials in and out to patrons
• Assist patrons with online searches, including database and digital resource searching
• Provide technical and customer service support to patrons
• Assist patrons with computers, printing, and web-based resources
• Assist with Library Literacy Instruction
• Maintain accurate statistics, records, and filing systems with confidentiality
• Assist with cataloging and maintain catalog records
• Re-shelve books and library materials
• Participate in the planning and implementation of library programs and activities
• Create book displays, bulletin boards, and promotional materials
• Represent the library at campus and community events in a positive and professional manner
• Provide welcoming and culturally responsive customer service to students, staff, faculty, and community patrons
• Other duties necessary to the function of BFCC, as needed Qualifications
• Associate degree in any field; and
• Minimum one (1) year of library, customer service, or general office experience, including operating computers and related equipment
• Experience working in higher education, tribal communities, or public service environments preferred
• Must complete the Montana Library Certification Program within three (3) years of hire
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required Knowledge Required:
• Knowledge of operations of basic office equipment
• Proper telephone and email etiquette
• Blackfeet Community College operating procedures Skills Required:

• Working with computer programs
• Working knowledge of computer and web-based programs
• Customer service and interpersonal communication skills Abilities Required:
• Type accurately with attention to detail
• Speak to groups of people
• Maintain strict confidentiality regarding patron records and related information
• Creativity and initiative
• Self-motivation and ability to work with minimal supervision
• Work effectively with diverse populations and age groups Complexity Incumbents will work in the library during hours of operation, including adjustments for end-of-semester extended hours and programs. Position may require evening hours and occasional weekends. Must possess willingness to learn and adapt to changing technologies and library services. Personal Contacts Has contact with staff and faculty in all departments, students, Board of Trustees, Blackfeet Tribal departments and programs staff, and other related entities and persons necessary to conduct the day-to-day business operation of the Library. Physical Demands The library setting is a general office setting. Duties require extensive use of computer monitors, keyboards, printers, and other office equipment. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. Normal demands of office work are applicable, including walking, standing, and sitting at a desk. Lifting and moving books, equipment, and materials in excess of 25 pounds may be required. Guidelines This position will be guided by:
