FLSA STATUS Non-Exempt PURPOSE The School Psychologist Intern provides supervised school psychological services consistent with the NASP Model for Comprehensive and Integrated School Psychological Services. The intern supports students' academic achievement, social-emotional development, and behavioral functioning through data-based decision making, consultation, assessment, and intervention. All services are provided under direct supervision of a credentialed and/or licensed School Psychologist and in compliance with state law, district policies, NASP ethical standards, and applicable federal and state regulations. This position is a training role and does not permit independent practice. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES Under appropriate supervision and consistent with training level, the School Psychologist Intern performs the following duties aligned with NASP Domains of Practice: Conduct psycho-educational assessments using valid, reliable, and culturally responsive assessment tools. Collect, analyze, and interpret academic, behavioral, and social-emotional data. Assist multidisciplinary teams in determining eligibility for special education and related services. Consult with teachers, administrators, families, and multidisciplinary teams regarding student needs. Participate in IEP meetings, problem-solving teams, and student support meetings. Communicate assessment findings and recommendations clearly and professionally. Assist in the development, implementation, and monitoring of academic and behavioral interventions. Provide counseling and behavioral supports within the scope of training and supervision. Support implementation of MTSS, PBIS, and other evidence-based intervention frameworks. Support positive school climate initiatives and prevention-focused practices. Assist with crisis prevention, intervention, and recovery activities as directed and supervised. Collaborate with families in culturally responsive and respectful ways. Demonstrate awareness of cultural, linguistic, socioeconomic, and individual factors affectingstudent performance. Adhere to the NASP Principles for Professional Ethics. Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential documentation in compliance with FERPA, IDEA, and district policies. Participate in required supervision, professional development, and internship-related activities. Perform other related duties as assigned, consistent with training level, supervision, and applicable law. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Knowledge of principles of child development, learning, and behavior. Knowledge of psychoeducational assessment methods and data-based decision making. Knowledge of NASP ethical standards and professional practice guidelines. Knowledge of IDEA, FERPA, Section 504, and related education laws and regulations. Effective oral and written communication skills. Skill in the administration and scoring of psychological and educational assessments under supervision. Skill in collaboration and consultation with multidisciplinary teams. Skill in organization, time management, and accurate documentation. Ability to analyze data and apply results to educational decision making. Ability to establish positive working relationships with students, staff, and families. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment. Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and meet required timelines. Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written English. Ability to sit, stand, walk, and move throughout school facilities. Ability to manage workload demands, deadlines, and emotionally sensitive situations. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT 182 Days. Salary to be established by the Board of Education. Essential sensory abilities include close vision for reading, distance and peripheral vision, focus adjustment, and hearing speech in various environments, including classrooms, outdoors, and over the phone. Clear, audible speech is required for effective communication. Duties are typically performed in a school or classroom environment, with occasional responsibilities during field trips. The work environment noise level ranges from moderate to loud. SALARY AND BENEFITS Schedule: 5 Days/Week, 7.5 Hours/Day with an unpaid 30-minute lunch (Hours capped at 35 per week except with approval of a building or District administrator) Temporary Position: This position is an at-will, temporary position for the 2026-2027 school year only (182 days, following the Teacher Calendar). This position is subject to the terms of the School Psychology Internship Agreement between the Board of Education of Lake Villa CCSD 41 and the Intern's university.
