Registered Nurse - Dialysis

Job Description

Job Summary:
The Dialysis Charge Nurse oversees patient care within the dialysis unit, ensuring quality treatment and adherence to safety protocols. This role involves supervising staff, coordinating procedures, and managing complex clinical situations to optimize patient outcomes.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and coordinate daily dialysis operations, ensuring compliance with clinical standards.
• Supervise nursing staff and support personnel to maintain efficient workflow.
• Administer outpatient chronic and acute dialysis treatments, including blood and blood product management.
• Monitor and troubleshoot dialysis equipment, including alarms and system checks.
• Ensure infection control procedures are strictly followed to prevent complications.
• Respond to emergencies such as cardiac arrest, air emboli, or fluid overload with appropriate interventions.

Qualifications:

• Hold an active NY registered nurse license.
• Possess at least 1 year of dialysis experience, including outpatient chronic and acute settings.
• Demonstrate prior charge nurse experience in a dialysis environment.
• Have proficiency in EPIC charting and familiarity with dialysis-specific procedures and alarms.
• Be able to cannulate AV fistula and grafts confidently.
• Maintain BLS certification.
