Portfolio Manager

Pay or shift range: $125,000 to $175,000 USD. This range is budgeted for the position and final offers are based on experience, qualifications, and other factors. Description Why Southern Land? Position Summary Southern Land Company, a national real estate development and construction firm, seeks a full‑time Portfolio Manager to manage a complex investment portfolio for a small family office. The role requires independent work in a fast‑paced environment and is responsible for growing and protecting assets through customized strategies to meet long‑term financial goals. This in‑office position is based at our corporate office in Nashville, TN, or our regional office in Manhattan, with a work schedule of 30+ hours per week. Essential Functions Serve as a liaison and proactively manage relationships with specialists (investment managers, accountants, tax advisors, and attorneys) to retain assets and ensure cohesive strategy for asset protection. Review and analyze investment performance reports, conduct research, and develop holistic wealth strategies—including portfolio management, retirement, estate, philanthropic planning, and tax services—to ensure alignment with client goals and risk tolerance. Prepare consolidated financial reports, track investment performance, and monitor expenses. Evaluate new financial, retirement, and estate plans and recommend investment strategies. Continuously improve investment analytics, modeling standards, and decision‑support processes. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong commitment to fiduciary duty and protecting client interests. Highly analytical with ability to see both the forest and the trees. Strong judgment and a solution‑oriented approach to complex problems. Proven problem‑solver who can develop actionable recommendations. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. High integrity, sound judgment, attention to detail, and ability to operate independently in a fast‑paced environment. Required Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, or a related discipline. CFA, CFP, or CPA certification. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word). 10+ years of progressive experience in financial services, client services, or wealth management. Preferred Education and Experience Master’s degree in business administration, accounting, or finance.
