Job Title: Clinical Social Worker Profession: Behavioral Health Specialty: Social Worker-Clinical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Monday - Friday Hours per Shift: 8am - 5pm Experience: Minimum 3 years License: Current valid license to practice as a Social Worker in any state Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred Must-Have: - Experience in clinical social work - Knowledge of case management and utilization review processes - Familiarity with electronic health record systems Description: The Clinical Social Worker ensures that patients receive appropriate care by verifying medical necessity and confirming the correct patient status. They monitor the ongoing need for services while working to reduce unnecessary length of stay and prevent delays. The role supports accurate clinical documentation for proper reimbursement and coordinates with providers and the care team on discharge planning and transitions. They manage resource use to control costs and communicate with payers to prevent denials. The Clinical Social Worker ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and contributes to reporting and quality improvement efforts. This position serves as a key liaison between clinical care, finance, and regulatory requirements. Ultimately, the role has a direct impact on patient outcomes, hospital efficiency, and organizational performance.
