About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: PCU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in specialty required License: Compact or state nursing license in hand upon submission Certifications: BLS required, ACLS and NIHSS preferred Must-Have: Epic charting system experience required Patient ratio experience preferred Charge experience preferred Description: Please ensure the traveler is aware of the following: Upon accepting an assignment and starting the role, the unit manager may assign the traveler to an "Emergency Team." There will be an expectation to stay at the facility until after the event passes or be part of the relief team. Specific details pertaining to pay will be provided during each emergency event, as impacts vary. By signing the travel contract, the traveler accepts the above and will report as assigned by the unit manager if an emergency event occurs. Travelers should not apply for a role if they are not comfortable with these conditions. Patient diagnoses include heart failure, chest pain, hypertension, stroke, arrhythmia, dysrhythmias, LVAD, post-CABG, post-MVR, DKA, and EP. Special procedures include chest tubes, IV drips, post-EP procedures, and post-cath lab care. The patient ratio will be 1:4-5. Required skills include the interpretation of dysrhythmias, management of cardiac drips (no titration), pre/post-cardiac catheterization, and telemetry. Chest tube experience with Emerson/PleurEvac is also required. Management of dysrhythmias is expected. Interdisciplinary support includes IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation. The unit serves adult and geriatric patient age groups. The daily census averages 43 patients. The unit has 43 rooms and 43 beds. Travelers must have been separated from previous employment for a full year before returning as travel staff. Modules are billable and will be completed during orientation. Preferred certifications include ACLS and NIHSS. The facility does not accept local travelers. Travelers must live over 65 miles from the facility. All applicable certifications must be sent with the profile.
