Surgical Oncologist

Position Summary

The Department of Surgery at the University of North Carolina is seeking a full-time surgical oncologist to join our Division of Surgical Oncology. This open‑rank, open‑track appointment ranges from 0.5 to 1.0 FTE. The faculty member will perform clinical, research, and educational duties, focusing on cancers of the liver, biliary tree, and pancreas.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical care, including multidisciplinary care, tumor boards, and surgical support of oncology programs.
• Educate medical students, residents, and fellows.
• Conduct research in areas such as clinical trials, outcomes, health services, basic science, translational, ethics, education, or global surgery.
• Commit to departmental, school, and university missions of patient care, education, and research.
• Serve as a Campus Security Authority, reporting Clery crimes and completing annual Clery training.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

• MD or equivalent degree.
• Fellowship trained in surgical oncology or hepatopancreatobiliary surgery.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience caring for patients with HPB malignancies.
• Proficiency in robotics and minimally‑invasive surgery.
