Job Title: Feeder Machine Operator Job Description
The Feeder Machine Operator sets up and operates production equipment to support high-volume carton manufacturing. This role prepares the feeder and delivery sections for production, supports press operations, performs quality checks, and handles finished cartons. The position requires strong attention to safety, the ability to perform repetitive physical tasks, and a willingness to work rotating shifts in a fast-paced, 24/7 facility.
Responsibilities- Complete make-ready activities at the feeder and delivery sections to ensure machines are properly set up for each production run.
- Take off completed cartons from the machine and stack them neatly and safely on pallets as a repetitive, continuous task.
- Assist press operations with installing ink, operating equipment, making adjustments, and conducting tests to maintain consistent production quality.
- Perform required quality checks on products and processes, following established procedures and documentation requirements.
- Fill in and perform duties of the assistant press operator when that team member is absent or reassigned.
- Follow all safety rules and operating procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment and adherence to safety guidelines.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area by performing housekeeping duties as needed.
- Read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, maintenance manuals, and procedure documents to ensure correct machine setup and operation.
- Write routine reports and basic documentation related to production, quality, and equipment performance.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to coordinate tasks, report issues, and support smooth production flow.
- Apply basic arithmetic to compute rates, ratios, percentages, and interpret bar graphs related to production metrics.
- Solve practical problems on the production floor where only limited standardization exists, using written, oral, diagram, or schedule instructions.
- Use basic mechanical aptitude to understand machine components, identify simple mechanical issues, and assist in minor adjustments.
- Work safely and efficiently during assigned shifts, including nights and rotating schedules, to support continuous operations in a 24/7 facility.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support overall production and operational goals.
- Ability to complete machine make-ready at the feeder and delivery sections for production runs.
- Experience with production, machine operation, and general labor in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Ability to stand for the duration of the shift and perform repetitive tasks safely and consistently.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence clearly and accurately.
- Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers and supervisors in a production setting.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations with limited standardization.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Basic mechanical aptitude to understand and assist with machine operation, adjustments, and minor mechanical tasks.
- Strong safety awareness and commitment to following all safety policies and procedures.
- Willingness and ability to work rotating shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and overtime as needed in a 24/7 operation.
- Bilingual skills in English and Spanish are a plus for reading, writing, and speaking in a production environment.
- Comfort working in a non–climate-controlled manufacturing facility.
- Ability to work effectively in a high-volume, team-based production environment with approximately 170 coworkers.
- Flexibility to move between different shifts as staffing needs change, including 7pm–7am rotating shifts, 3pm–11pm shifts (Monday–Friday), and 11pm–7am shifts (Sunday–Thursday).
- Willingness to wear required personal protective equipment, including steel toe boots, and to use company-provided gloves, ear plugs, and safety glasses.
- Interest in long-term growth opportunities, including progression from assistant roles into operator positions as experience is gained.

Work EnvironmentThis role is based in a non–climate-controlled, 24/7 manufacturing facility with approximately 170 employees. The environment involves continuous machine operation, active production lines, and a strong emphasis on safety. The facility operates around the clock, with schedules that may include 7pm–7am rotating shifts and, once fully staffed, 3pm–11pm (Monday–Friday) and 11pm–7am (Sunday–Thursday) shifts. Shifts may be structured as 8-hour or 12-hour schedules, such as 3 days on/3 days off and 2 days on/2 days off, with frequent opportunities for overtime. Work is physically demanding and requires standing for the entire shift, repetitive handling of cartons, and lifting up to 50 pounds. The company requires steel toe boots, and provides gloves, ear plugs, and safety glasses to support a safe working environment. Dress is typical for an industrial setting, with an expectation of practical, safety-oriented attire suitable for production work.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Phoenixville, PA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $21.68 - $21.68/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
