Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Orientation and Mobility or Special Education, Certification as a Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS), and 1+ years Orientation and Mobility Specialist experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Step into a meaningful contract opportunity supporting students as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist for the upcoming academic year. Based full-time on site, you’ll provide essential services helping students achieve greater independence and navigate their school environments effectively. The assignment runs from August 10th, 2026, through May 28th, 2027, with a 37.5-hour work week and caseload details to be finalized soon.

Please note: The district anticipates official confirmation of vacancies by June 8th or 9th, with interviews expected the following week. The position offers a high likelihood of moving quickly once approved.

Desired Qualifications:

• National Certification in Orientation and Mobility (COMS or equivalent)
• Vision Certification
• Previous school-based experience is highly preferred (but not required)
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Ability to adapt instruction to a range of student ages and abilities

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide orientation and mobility instruction tailored to each student’s needs
• Collaborate closely with educational teams, families, and administrators
• Assess and document student progress and goals
• Develop individualized instruction plans to enhance students’ safe movement and confidence
• Complete all required onboarding, documentation, and timesheets in compliance with district requirements
