Conveniently located just 20 minutes from downtown Knoxville and minutes from the Turkey Creek Shopping Center. Opened in 1997, the club features the Joseph L. Lee–designed Avalon Golf Course, an 18-hole layout known for its varied terrain and challenging play. Avalon Country Club is has been family owned and operated for over a decade.
Role Description
The Head Chef / Kitchen Manager is a full-time, on-site role based at The New Avalon Country Club in Knoxville, TN. This role oversees all kitchen operations, including menu planning, food preparation, and timely service for restaurant, banquet, and special event dining. Responsibilities include leading and training kitchen staff, maintaining food quality and presentation standards, and ensuring compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations. The Head Chef / Kitchen Manager collaborates with club leadership on food and beverage offerings, cost control, and inventory management. This role also focuses on creating a positive, efficient work environment that supports high-quality member and guest experiences.
What You’ll Do
- Create and maintain menus that appeal to our members and guests.
- Deliver consistent food quality, presentation, and service timing.
- Build, train, and support a kitchen team that takes pride in its work.
- Manage ordering, inventory, food costs, labor, and waste.
- Keep the kitchen safe, clean, organized, and ready for service.
- Work closely with the front-of-house team to create a welcoming dining experience.
- Partner with our event coordinator to execute food service for tournaments, celebrations, and private events.
Who We’re Looking For
An experienced chef or kitchen leader with strong culinary fundamentals, clear communication, and a practical approach to running a kitchen. You should be comfortable coaching staff, managing costs, and jumping in wherever the team needs support.
Restaurant, country club, or banquet experience is preferred. ServSafe certification or willingness to obtain it is also preferred. Evening, weekend, and event availability is needed.
