To learn how to apply for a faculty or staff position, please review this .**Maintenance Mechanic**The University of Miami/UHealth department of Facilities has an exciting opportunity for a Full Time Maintenance Mechanic to work at the UHealth Medical Campus. The Maintenance Mechanic - Central (H) constructs, maintains, and tests mechanical equipment, machinery, and components to maintain the physical assets of the institution in good working order.* Greases, lubricates and replaces filters in air and hydraulic systems.* Performs inspections and repairs of equipment and completes scheduled maintenance.* Diagnoses problems and makes adjustments or reports situations to proper managing staff.* Prepares and maintains records and reports.* Reads and interprets equipment manuals and work orders.* Orders necessary parts and equipment from vendors and suppliers.* Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.**Department Specific Functions*** Provide proper care, preventative maintenance, and repair maintenance of building surfaces, building structures, hardware, furniture and fixtures in assigned areas.* Initiate work orders to appropriate maintenance personnel when the nature of the work is beyond the mechanic’s capability. Assists with the completion of the work as required.* Replace broken glass inside doors, windows and partitions.* Replace light bulbs and fluorescent tubes that custodian personnel cannot reach without scaffolding or ladders 6 feet or smaller.* Replace faucet washers and flush valves; repairs minor plumbing leaks; unclogs drains with snakes and plumber helpers; and other plumbing duties.* Replace broken commode seats, tissue, towel, and soap dispensers, repair bathroom partitions, and mirrors.* Repair or replace damaged ceiling, wall, floor, and window coverings, including minor plaster work.* Adjust and repair all door hardware, including the door closure and locks.* Repair furniture and fixtures.* Inspect fire extinguishers and replace units that are out-of-date, discharged or damaged with fully charged units.* Perform minor carpentry work such as hanging mirrors and pictures, installing shelves, tightening loose signs and supports, repair handrails, trim wood doors, etc.* Paint areas that require no more than two hours to paint.* Perform minor electrical maintenance such as replacing light switches, ballasts, light fixtures, wall outlets, replacing fuses, etc. Conducts routine building inspections.* Conducts periodic inspections of roofs and performs minor roof repairs.
