Medical Assistant/LPN Urgent Care

Purpose of Job

This position is responsible for performing a variety of patient care related activities including: assisting the providers, performing a variety of diagnostic Lab and X-ray procedures according to established policies and procedures.

Job Functions

When performing nursing support functions

1. Escorts patients to examination room and obtains vitals and documents in EMR
2. Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with clinic policies and scope of certification/licensure
3. Prepares equipment and assists providers during examination, testing and treatment of patients
4. Performs room turn over in patient rooms between cases and at the end of day
5. Assists with patient education
6. Maintains stocked supplies and inventory
7. Sterilizes instruments, exam rooms and equipment
8. Performs testing procedures as required
9. Troubleshoots and maintains equipment
10. Completes daily QA/QC procedures and provides maintenance/adjustments to equipment
11. Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Education/Work Experience/License/Certifications

• Graduation from Medical Assisting program or School of Practical Nursing
• Current LPN Licensure or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Assistant (RMA) (LPNs/MAs will have 1 year to become certified in order to maintain employment)
• Current BLS certification

Knowledge/Skills/ Abilities

• Ability to multi-task
• Ability to serve patients in a friendly and efficient manner
• Knowledge of basic computer functions and Microsoft Office applications
• Ability to work autonomously and as a team
• Capable of making independent decisions with the use of good critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Ability to respond appropriately to unpredictable situations and diverse patient populations
• Ability to communicate in the English language for effective written and verbal correspondence in order to complete job functions as mentioned above

Preferred Qualifications

• EMR experience
• 1-2 years of clinic experience
