Senior Compensation Analyst

Location: Rockville, MD (Onsite 3-4 days a week) Employment Type: Contract (potential to extend or convert) Pay Range: $63-72 per hour W2 *Compensation varies based on skills and experience Benefits: Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance 401k sick leave employee assistance program PTO paid holidays legal insurance Job Description This role is responsible for supporting Human Resources (HR) leadership with creating and maintaining a competitive, equitable, and legally compliant compensation framework for the organization. The position acts as a project manager and provides advanced analytical expertise to the planning, design, development, and administration of compensation and total rewards programs across the organization. By analyzing market data, creating and evaluating job roles, and collaborating with HR leadership and department leaders and managers, the role helps attract, retain, and motivate top talent, aligning compensation strategies with the company's objectives and industry standards. Job Profile Tasks/Responsibilities: Lead the execution of the core tasks and responsibilities, listed in the Job Profile Task/Responsibilities section of this document, without close supervision and extensive latitude for independent judgment. Provide feedback and guidance to more junior team members with the execution of the core tasks and responsibilities listed in the Job Profile Task/Responsibilities section of this document. Serve as a mentor to junior team members. Shares knowledge related to industry best practices and standards with others across the department/division. Collaborate with managers to draft or update job descriptions. Utilizing the PayScale and CompAnalyst tools, conduct market research to benchmark compensation practices against industry standards. Analyze trends to ensure competitiveness and internal equity. Design, implement, and maintain job architecture, career levels, grades and incentive programs that align with organizational goals and market data. Conduct quarterly FLSA review to identify employees are in the appropriate classification (exempt/non-exempt) Work closely with HR leadership, finance, and department managers to provide salary recommendations for market adjustments and promotions and answer any compensation inquiries. Support Director, Compensation with planning and administration of annual salary review cycles including annual merit increase calculation, COLA recommendation, and bonus calculation, as well as managing off cycle processes, and budget preparation. Support the design, communication, and implementation of incentive plans. Create and modify compensation operation policies, guidelines, procedures, and compliance documentation. Monitor regulatory legislation and audit to identify potential compensatory, operational, and financial impacts. Ensure compliance with existing federal, state, and local compensation related regulations (Minimum Wage, FLSA, EEO-1, Wage & Hour). Monitor cost of wage geographic differentials. Advise management on compensation-related legal matters and best practices. Ensure compensation practices comply with federal, state, and local regulations. Maintain professional demeanor and behavior at all times in all forms of communication. Perform other duties as assigned by manager. Job Profile Minimum Qualifications: Typically, fifteen years of experience in a role in Human Resources, compensation, or related field required. Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, Mathematics, Finance, or related field or 5 years of experience in lieu of degree. Strong understanding of compensation principles, job evaluation methodologies, and relevant labor laws and regulations. Experience with Payscale, CompAnalyst or other compensation management platform required. Advanced Microsoft Office experience: in particular, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel experience that includes VLOOKUP, pivot tables, charts. Strong business acumen, analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills, including keen judgment and decision-making, with an eye towards process efficiency and simplification. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to be influential with impactful presentation skills. WHY AVERRO?
