Sussex Development Corporation is seeking an experienced Commercial Construction Estimator to join our team. In this role, you will collaborate closely with the project management team to provide critical financial insights that contribute to the overall success of our diverse commercial construction projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Analyze drawings, specifications, and project requirements
- Perform accurate quantity takeoffs from plans and specifications
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors
- Develop conceptual, preliminary, and final estimates during design development
- Identify cost-saving alternatives and value engineering options
- Assemble complete bid proposals and pricing summaries
- Solicit, review, and level subcontractor and supplier bids
- Collaborate and reconcile scopes with other members of the estimating team
- Ensure bids comply with project requirements, scope, and deadlines
- Participate in bid reviews and clarifications
- Identify potential risks, constructability issues, and scope gaps
- Prepare reports for management and clients
- Compare estimated vs. actual costs for continuous improvement
- Support negotiations during contract award
- Assist with client presentation preparation
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial estimating
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and Adobe or Bluebeam
- Proven ability to accurately perform quantity surveys and estimate the cost of materials, labor, equipment, and subcontracts' work to ensure that all project components are included in the estimate
- The ability to thoroughly understand and follows plans and specifications in the bidding process
- Thorough knowledge of construction techniques and the imagination to derive the most efficient process while completing a task
- Bachelor's degree in related field preferred
