Exciting Opportunity for MedSurg Nurses!

Job Description:


- Shift: 12H Days 7a-7p; Every Other Weekend (EOW)
- Float Pool between:
- Med/Onc
- 2 Surgical Units
- 2 Medical Units
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:6
- Total Care - No Patient Care Assistants (PCAs)
- Minimal telemetry - only occasional strip reading
- Transitioning to EPIC in November 2026
- Unit: MedSurg
- Number of Beds: 128
- Required Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS)


Common Patient Diagnoses:


- Surgical Services:
- Colorectal
- Hepatobiliary
- Bariatric
- General
- Orthopedic
- Medical Conditions:
- Diabetes
- Heart Disease
- Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
- Kidney and Gastrointestinal Conditions

Must-Have Skills:


- Current and relevant experience in basic medical/surgical nursing
- Large hospital experience
- Not accepting first-time travelers

Unit Dynamics:


- Charge Nurse available on each shift who also manages a patient assignment
- Nurse Aids/Patient Care Technicians available with varying ratios and duties
- Respiratory support readily available for troubleshooting equipment including:
- Vents
- CPAP
- BiPAP
- High Flow
- Remote telemetry monitoring; RNs are not required to read their own strips

Scheduling Details:


- Staff assignments based on unit needs
- Weekend Requirement: Yes, every other weekend
- Holiday Requirement: No
- Call or Standby Requirement: No
- Floating Requirements: Yes, within any Med/Surg pod
- Dress Code: Navy scrubs (provided)
- Orientation: 3 shifts of unit/department-specific orientation

Cancellation Policy:


- Hospital can cancel up to 4 shifts for 13-week assignments; 3 shifts for assignments less than 13 weeks

Charting System:


- Cerner; transitioning to EPIC in November 2026
