Production Technician

Production TechnicianThe Production Technician is responsible for meeting departmental production, quality, and safety standards. Upon training within the department, the Production Technician will be responsible for independently reading and verifying the shop traveler, and setting up and completing the manufacturing process, which may include printing equipment, automated equipment, small hand tools, viewing product through a microscope, and fine assembly work.Duties and Responsibilities:Read and accurately understand the shop traveler (job order, instructions, and customer specifications)Set up and operate different types of machinery according to the department processes and each job's requirementsConsistently evaluate product for quality, verifying departmental procedures are completed accuratelyRecord defects, document quality data, and work in accordance with the shop travelerAcquire production materials, set up individual production area, and maintain a clean and safe environmentFollow all safety training and procedures as directed by the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Manager, including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), chemical handling, and hazardous wasteResponsible for immediately reporting all accidents, near misses, and safety concernsCross train on operations and equipment within the areaEssential Knowledge and Skills:Ability to adapt and learn new skills due to continually changing work environment.A self-starter with the ability to work without direct supervision and a sense of urgency to meet production goals and customer expectations.Ability to work with computerized manufacturing equipment.Ability to read and comprehend English written instructions, including manufacturing work orders, customer specifications, and shop control documentsQuality centered mindset with strong attention to detail, mathematical, and technical aptitude.Able to be a positive team member while also working independently.Manual dexterity (hand/finger/eye coordination) is essential to the Production Associate job; ability to work with very small components.Able to sit or stand throughout a shift and independently push, pull, or lift up to 50 pounds.Able to read, write, and communicate in English to the degree necessary to perform the job.Consistently meet attendance requirements. Willingness to work overtime, including weekends as necessary.Comfortable working within a manufacturing environment that includes machinery, moving parts, and noise.Ability and willingness to cross-train in other departments, learning to operate other machinery.Education and Experience:Vocational, High School Diploma or Technical Trade School certificate preferred.2 - 10 Years Relevant Experience preferred.Candidate has capacity to comply with the federally mandated requirements of U.S. export control laws.
