Regional Project Manager Fit For Symptomatic - Central
Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is the country's largest employer, delivering universal public healthcare to 5 million New Zealanders.
We provide essential hospital, specialist, and community health services across 80+ locations - from large urban centres to rural towns and remote communities.
Our goal is to improve health outcomes for all New Zealanders by delivering equitable, accessible and innovative care.
About the Role
This role is focused on delivering the FIT for Symptomatic programme. The emphasis is on implementation planning, district readiness, stakeholder communications, delivery tracking, and rapid issue resolution.
The Regional Project Manager works alongside regional clinical and operational leaders to support districts from implementation and go-live through to embedding, monitoring, and continuous improvement of the pathway. The role ensures delivery is sustained beyond go-live, including equity interventions, administrator onboarding, standard operating processes, performance tracking, and ongoing optimisation, while providing structured feedback to national teams on progress, risks, and improvement opportunities.
The project manager will also provide support for the wider work programme for the region for gastroenterology.
About You
You bring demonstrated programme and project management experience within large, complex health environments, with a strong track record of delivering outcomes across multi-stakeholder and system-wide settings. This includes translating strategy and policy intent into clear, practical implementation plans, delivery actions and governance reporting, ensuring work moves effectively from concept through to execution.
Confidence in coordinating service change across interdependent and often ambiguous environments is a key strength, particularly where pace and competing priorities need to be balanced. Change management and stakeholder engagement capability supports effective delivery in contexts where local variation is significant. Risk, issue, assumption and dependency management is handled with care and rigour, alongside a willingness to escalate barriers when they impact delivery confidence or progress.
