Travel Crating Associate (Charlotte-Based)

Join our team as a Travel Crating Associate, responsible for building custom wooden crates and packaging solutions used to protect and transport valuable energy equipment. This position is based out of Charlotte, NC and may require travel to customer locations throughout the United States.

When traveling, the company provides airfare, hotel accommodations, and a daily per diem for meals and incidental expenses. Multiple shifts are available.

Responsibilities

• Build custom wooden crates, skids, and pallets for industrial equipment and inventory.
• Measure, cut, assemble, and secure lumber using hand and power tools.
• Interpret packaging specifications and dimensions to ensure products are properly protected.
• Operate forklifts and overhead cranes (certifications provided).
• Verify inventory counts and material accuracy.
• Complete required paperwork and documentation.
• Perform routine equipment inspections and minor maintenance.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
• Travel to customer and project sites as needed to support crating and packaging operations.
• Assist with additional warehouse and shipping activities as required.

Required Skills

• Experience in woodworking, crate building, construction, warehouse, manufacturing, or similar hands-on environments.
• Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and measuring devices.
• Forklift experience preferred.
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to read and follow measurements accurately.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building wooden crates, pallets, skids, or shipping containers.
• Experience in industrial packaging or shipping operations.
• Knowledge of inventory control or ERP systems.
• Ability and willingness to travel as needed.

Work Environment

• Based out of Charlotte, NC with travel assignments throughout the U.S.
• Work is performed in warehouse, manufacturing, and customer-site environments.
• Facilities may be non-climate controlled and subject to seasonal temperatures.
• Position requires standing, lifting, bending, and working with lumber and tools throughout the shift.
• 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift opportunities available.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Charlotte, NC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $26.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
