Job Title: In-Home Math Tutor (Singapore Math Specialist – K & 4th Grade)
Job Type: Part-Time / In-Person
Pay Rate: $18/hr
Job Description:
We are seeking a patient, engaging, and qualified In-Home Math Tutor to support two elementary-aged children—a Kindergartner and a 4th grader —with their math education using the Singapore Math curriculum.
The ideal candidate has a strong background in mathematics instruction, hands-on experience with Singapore Math methodology (Concrete-Pictorial-Abstract approach), and an ability to tailor lessons to two distinct developmental levels.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one, in-person math instruction at the family home for both a Kindergartner and a 4th grader.
- Utilize Singapore Math strategies (bar modeling, number bonds, concrete tools/manipulatives) to build deep conceptual understanding. Singapore Math curriculum will be provided.
- Keep the Kindergartner engaged through fun, play-based, and visual math activities.
- Help the 4th grader master foundational and intermediate concepts, problem-solving skills, and word problems.
- Reinforce school coursework, and assist with homework
- Communicate progress and areas of growth regularly with parents.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Required: Proven experience and familiarity with the Singapore Math curriculum (e.g., Primary Mathematics, Dimensions Math).
- Required: Prior experience tutoring or teaching elementary-grade students (specifically early childhood and middle/upper elementary).
- Strong understanding of child development and how to keep young learners focused and motivated.
- Patient, encouraging, and adaptable teaching style.
- Must be reliable, punctual, and have reliable transportation to the family home.
- Background check and references required.
Schedule & Hours:
- Hours: Approximately 4 hours per week
- Days/Times: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4:30 PM – 6:30 PM
