Structural Engineer II

Required Skills & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited university

• 5+ years of structural engineering experience

• Active P.E. license

• Strong analytical structural design experience

• Experience designing wood structures (primary focus)

• Experience designing steel structures

• Knowledge of applicable engineering codes, standards, and design publications

• Experience preparing structural calculations and engineering documentation

• Strong communication and problem-solving skills

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Nice to Have Skills & Experience:

• Experience with composite panel or building product design

• Experience in manufacturing, building products, or prefabricated construction environments

• Ability to obtain additional state P.E. licenses

• Experience developing engineering standards, design tools, or calculation templates

• Experience mentoring junior engineers

• Experience with SIPs (Structural Insulated Panels)

Experience reviewing plans and coordinating with building officials

Job Description:

A client of Insight Global is seeking a Structural Engineer II to support the design and engineering of structural building systems with a primary focus on wood design, along with steel and occasional concrete applications. This role will be responsible for structural analysis, calculations, code compliance, and engineering support for unique building products and composite panel systems.

The ideal candidate will have an active P.E. license, 5+ years of structural engineering experience, and a strong analytical background in wood design. This person should be comfortable working independently, performing structural calculations, discussing applicable engineering standards and codes, and supporting projects from design through final submittal.
