POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for developing teacher effectiveness, supporting curriculum implementation, overseeing child assessment systems, and ensuring high-quality classroom experiences that prepare students for future learning.
The Program Supervisor coaches teachers through observation, mentoring, professional development, and reflective practice while preserving teacher ownership of lesson planning and classroom leadership. The Program Supervisor oversees the After School Care Program and serves as a school-wide co-leader of behavior support systems in partnership with the Assistant Director. Provides coaching, support, training, and leadership to assigned teaching staff. Formal evaluation, performance management decisions, and employment recommendations remain the responsibility of the Director. Have working knowledge of the Washington State Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) Licensing standards of Washington State.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The Following are the essential duties of this role; accomplishing the Christian mission and ministry of King’s Schools specifically, and of CRISTA generally.
Christ-centered Leadership and Education
- Foremostly, model a committed Christian faith and personal relationship with Jesus and minister to the spiritual needs of students and our school community through all activities undertaken in Teacher’s role.
- Educate students in a manner consistent with, and reflective of, the Christian tenets of the Statement of Faith and the CCC, including the incorporation of these shared Christian religious beliefs and conduct into all student curricula (sometimes referred to as integrating faith and learning, or integration of a biblical worldview) and programming.
- Teach a biblical worldview that is integrated into all curriculum and activities.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the Bible and application of a biblical worldview to subject matter and teacher’s conduct as a minister in our school community.
- Through godly leadership, engage and inspire the academic, spiritual and emotional growth of students.
- Be ready and available to lead staff devotionals and staff prayer.
Discipleship and Spiritual Development
- Model a personal and growing Christian faith that aligns with CRISTA’s Statement of Faith and Chrisitan Community Commitment (CCC). Contribute to the spiritual, intellectual, social, and physical welfare of the students.
- Minister to the spiritual needs of students and develop a vibrant Christian faith community.
- Support the spiritual needs of students through relationship and personal modeling of Teacher’s own Christian faith.
- Lead classes in daily prayer.
- Instruct and be available to lead and support students’ spiritual formation.
- Oversee and support chapel attendance and students’ spiritual engagement at chapel.
DUTIES

Spiritual Leadership
- Incorporate Biblical truths and values into every lesson, beginning each day with a short devotional.
- Use the Preschool Bible curriculum to present a weekly Bible story and incorporate the monthly “fruit of Spirit” (Galatians 5:22-23) to assist students in demonstrating love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control in practical ways.
- Attend and assist in weekly preschool-wide Chapel times.
Curriculum Leadership
- Serve as the primary instructional leader for Preschool classrooms serving children ages 3-4.
- Conduct classroom observations and provide coaching feedback.
- Support implementation of curriculum established by the Director.
- Promote high-quality instructional practices and classroom environments.
- Reinforce teacher ownership of planning and instruction.
- Guide teachers in providing developmentally appropriate learning experiences.
- Support strong language, literacy, social-emotional, and early academic foundations.
Staff Leadership
- Mentor and support new teachers.
- Develop teacher growth plans and coaching cycles.
- Facilitate reflective coaching conversations.
- Support teacher goal setting and professional development.
- Encourage collaboration and sharing of best practices.
- Assist the Director by providing observation data and performance feedback.
Assessment and Child Development
- Oversee developmental assessment systems in Preschool Classrooms.
- Support teachers in documenting student growth.
- Monitor preschool developmental progress.
- Assist teachers in preparing for parent conferences.
- Support intervention planning for children needing additional support.
- Partner with families to promote student success.
Classroom Leadership
- Ensure consistent quality across Preschool classrooms.
- Promote engaging, organized, and developmentally appropriate environments.
- Support implementation of classroom management systems.
- Monitor adherence to program standards and expectations.
- Assist with continuous quality improvement efforts.
Behavior Leadership
- Serve as a school-wide co-leader of behavior support systems.
- Coach teachers in positive behavior support strategies.
- Assist with behavior plans and interventions.
- Participate in family meetings regarding ongoing behavior concerns.
- Collaborate with the Assistant Director to ensure consistency across programs.
- Monitor and analyze behavior trends across classrooms.
After School Care Leadership
- Oversee the After School Care Program.
- Supervise After Care staff.
- Ensure quality programming and student engagement.
- Maintain licensing and safety standards.
- Support smooth transitions between school-day and after-school programming.
Family Partnerships
- Build strong relationships with Preschool families.
- Support teachers in parent communication.
- Participate in family conferences and meetings as needed.
- Serve as a resource regarding child development and preschool readiness.
Leadership Team Collaboration
- Collaborate with the Director and Assistant Director.
- Assist in planning staff development opportunities.
- Support school-wide initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
CHRIST CENTERED
- Belief that Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior.
- Is a committed Christian who is dedicated to continued spiritual growth and development as evidenced through a growing personal walk with God (e.g. daily spiritual rhythms of prayer, fellowship, Bible study, etc.).
- Prayerfully seeks God’s will in their own lives and in their ministry at CRISTA.
- Engages our ministry including staff and colleagues through prayer, participation in spiritual practices, leading devotionals and other spiritual practices.
- Affirms, aligns with and supports CRISTA’s Statement of Faith and Christian Community Representative Statement (CCC).
- Conducts themselves in a manner which reflects well on CRISTA Ministries and aligns with its mission, vision, Statement of Faith and Christian Community Representative Commitment (CCC).
- Demonstrates the values of a CRISTA leader.
EDUCATION
- Minimum of 45 credits in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Education, Human Development, or related field.
- Meets Washington State qualifications for an Early Learning Program Administrator or is willing to obtain required credentials within established timeframes.
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of three years of successful teaching experience in an early childhood setting.
- Minimum of two years of leadership, mentoring, coaching, or supervisory experience.
- Experience working with children birth through age 3.
- Working knowledge of child development, social-emotional learning, and developmentally appropriate practice.
- Experience supporting families and building positive parent relationships.
LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION
- Washington state required 30-hour basic training
- Infant/Child CPR and first aid
- Food handlers’ card
- Proof of negative TB test
- Proof of MMR vaccination
- HIV and blood borne pathogen training
- Other certifications as deemed necessary by the state for work in a licensed childcare facility
SOFTWARE / EQUIPMENT KNOWLEDGE
- Microsoft Word, Excel, Computer Technology experience, Office 365, Teams, OneNote
OTHER CONSIDERATIONS
- Ability to pass background checks relating to DSHS Secretary’s List of Crimes and Negative Actions. (WAC 388-113).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- A calm, positive demeanor is required as well as a patient child-centered temperament.
- A positive professional attitude.
- Able to work collaboratively with supervisor, coworkers, students and their parents.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
- Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Educational Leadership, Child Development, or related field.
EXPERIENCE
- Five or more years of experience in an early childhood setting.
- Experience in preschool administration or program leadership.
- Experience managing staffing, scheduling, budgets, or operational systems.
- Experience leading licensing visits and compliance monitoring.
- Experience developing behavior support plans and coaching staff through challenging behaviors.
LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION
- Teaching certificate for Pre-K-elementary age children from an accredited university or college.
OTHER CONSIDERATIONS
- Training in Conscious Discipline, Positive Behavior Support, Love and Logic, or similar behavior frameworks.
- Experience leading professional development and staff training.
