Together, we strengthen our products, our culture, and our ability to deliver meaningful experiences to audiences around the globe.As a Senior Software Engineer, you will drive technical initiatives at the intersection of news publishing workflows, A/B experimentation, and data-informed product decisions. You will play a key role in shaping architecture and implementation, partnering closely with engineers, product managers, and designers across multiple teams.You will contribute end-to-end, from technical planning and design to development, code reviews, and deployment, while raising the bar on engineering excellence and best practices. In this role, you will deepen your expertise in building scalable, high-quality features and robust system integrations that support high-traffic user experiences in a fast-paced, dynamic news environment.If this sounds interesting to you and you would like new challenges, come join us!Your Role Accountabilities…Mentor and develop junior engineers through hands-on guidance, code reviews, and training initiativesDesign and implement infrastructure and validation systems for data models within simulation platforms and broader application ecosystemsCommunicate proactively on progress, risks, and blockers, ensuring alignment and strong stakeholder relationshipsActively contribute to Agile/Scrum ceremonies while providing technical leadership and guidanceBuild and scale applications and infrastructure supporting CNN use cases and evolving product needsExperience working in Agile software development environments using tools such as JIRA, GitHub, and ConfluenceQualifications & Experience…BS or MS in Computer Science or a related degree6+ years of full-stack development and leadership experience, with hands-on expertise in client/server technologies, modern tech stacks, and a solid understanding of common software data structures and algorithms4–6 years of professional front-end development, with mastery of modern JavaScript/ES6 and Node.jsPython/Go/Rust experience as a plusHands-on experience with AWS Services like IAM, VPC, EC2, S3, EKS, Lambda, and Route53Experience with data storage technologies, including SQL and/or NoSQL databases. Familiarity with CI/CD and infrastructure tools such as Git, Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker, and CloudFormationExperience using AI tools to improve development, code review and engineering workflows while balancing speed, quality, and bottlenecks. Familiar with AI development tools (Cursor, Copilot, Claude, etc.) to improve velocity and code quality4+ years of experience in debugging and problem-solving skillsExperience with A/B testing, analytics, or experimentation toolingYou are excited to add positively to the culture of CNN, both from an interpersonal level and from a code improvement standpointStrong architectural and distributed systems foundation. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, skill set, experience, and/or performance. Base pay is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery's total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $130,970.00 - $243,230.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros. Discovery provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and sick time and vacation.
