Role Snapshot
This position conducts external audits for local government entities in the Mid-east Tennessee region ensuring accountability transparency and effective operations across publicly funded organizations. Responsibilities may include examining and reviewing records reports financial statements and management practices for state and local government entities and other organizations receiving public funds.

What Youll Do

• Conduct audits of state and local governmental entities in accordance with professional auditing standards.
• Examine and review records reports financial statements and management practices.
• Evaluate financial statement presentation internal controls compliance and operational efficiency and effectiveness.
• Produce clear logical and well-supported workpapers and data analyses.
• Communicate clearly with auditees coworkers elected officials and stakeholders.
• Take initiative seek continuous improvement and contribute to a collaborative team culture.

What Were Looking For
Required:

• Bachelors degree in Accounting or Business Administration with at least 24 semester hours in accounting
• Ability to learn quickly think critically problem solve and produce accurate work
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Clear written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work tactfully with coworkers auditees and stakeholders
• Sound judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions

Preferred:

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license (not required but strongly encouraged for advancement)
• Experience in auditing governmental accounting or related fields

Logistics

Travel: For Local Government Auditors travel is required but is generally confined to same day commutes to and from a job site. Overnight stays may be required as necessary.
