Mainframe Logical Security Engineer

Our client, a leading organization in the financial services industry, is seeking a Mainframe Infrastructure Engineer to join their team. As a Mainframe Logical Security Engineer , you will be part of the IT Operations Department supporting the Mainframe Security and Infrastructure team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach, which will align successfully within the organization. Job Title: Mainframe Logical Security Engineer Location: Hybrid in Phoenix, Arizona Contract on W2 What's the Job? Design, implement, and manage security controls across IBM z/OS environments to ensure system integrity and compliance. Administer and maintain RACF security environment, including creating, modifying, and revoking user IDs, groups, and resource profiles. Implement and enforce least-privilege access controls for datasets, applications, and system resources. Conduct periodic access reviews, audits, and compliance checks to support regulatory requirements such as SOX, PCI, and HIPAA. Analyze security logs, investigate access violations, and troubleshoot authorization failures to maintain a secure mainframe environment. What's Needed? Hands-on experience with RACF administration on z/OS systems. Deep knowledge of RACF profiles, classes, dataset security, and user/group management. Experience with security reporting, audit tools, and analyzing SMF data. Understanding of z/OS security concepts, system internals, and mainframe security architecture. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. What's in it for me?
