Northrop Grumman Defense has an opening for a Systems Engineer (level 2)/Principal Systems Engineer (level 3) to join its team in Manhattan Beach, CA in support of the Sentinel Program. Northrop Grumman supports the Air Force’s sustainment, development, production and deployment of hardware and system modifications for Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Ground and Airborne Launch Control Systems, Launch Facilities and associated infrastructure. What you will get to do: This position will support the Sentinel Program's Command and Control (C2) Hardware Systems Engineering team. As a hardware systems engineer, this position will help rigorously design and document the hardware architecture, components, interfaces, and performance of the C2 system. This position will develop hardware Trade Studies, Analyses of Alternatives, and Design Specifications to help finalize the C2 technical baseline leading up to the Sentinel Critical Design Review campaign. This position will work closely with a team of Systems Engineers and Hardware Engineers, applying Agile execution methodologies. This position will help resolve complex requirements challenges resulting from a many-tiered Specification Tree that must comply and is subject to several federal regulatory organizations within the defense base. The position will be responsible for coordinating with Engineering teams across the Command Systems Segment at all levels of the spec tree to identify and resolve driving requirements and architecture maturity down to the hardware product level. This position will be responsible for leading complex negotiations with Hardware stakeholders in the areas of Cybersecurity, Nuclear Safety, and Software Engineering. This position may be hired at level 2 or level 3 depending upon applicant qualifications. Basic Qualifications: Systems Engineer (Level 2): Bachelor's degree in STEM with 2 years of experience, 0 years of experience with master’s degree. Must have an active DoD Secret clearance or higher at the time of application. Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period, as determined by the company to meet its business need 1 year of experience using Model-Based Systems Engineering concepts and tools 1 year of experience with multi-disciplinary engineering development, including Software, Hardware, and Systems Engineering 1 year of experience analyzing MBSE diagrams using Cameo, especially SysML and/or DoDAF diagrams related to system and component interface definition 1 year of internship, school or work experience showing understanding of System Engineering (SE) process, including 'V' Model and experience across multiple levels of integration 1 year of internship, school or work experience with requirements analysis and specification development Principal Systems Engineer (Level 3): Bachelor's degree in STEM with 5 years of related experience, 3 years of related experience with master’s degree, or 1 year of related experience with PhD. Must have an active DoD Secret clearance or higher at the time of application. Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period, as determined by the company to meet its business need 2 years of experience in System Engineering (SE) process, including 'V' Model and experience across multiple levels of integration 2 years of experience using IBM Rational DOORS to manage requirements 2 years of experience analyzing MBSE diagrams using Cameo, especially SysML and/or DoDAF diagrams related to system and component interface definition 2 years of experience with Agile execution principles and tools, including Scrum, Kanban, and Jira Preferred Qualifications: Current Sentinel PAR access 1 year of experience using IBM Rational DOORS to manage requirements Helps resolve team conflicts, ability to handle impediments and guard the team Experience in PI planning activities/meetings Maintain product backlog using Jira. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. #SentinelSystems Primary Level Salary Range: $91,800.00 - $137,600.00 Secondary Level Salary Range: $11,400.00 - $17,100.00 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
