Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced and customer-focused Retail Store Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of the store, drive sales and profitability, maintain high customer service standards, and lead the store team. The Store Manager will be responsible for achieving sales targets, managing inventory, ensuring operational excellence, and maintaining the company's brand standards.

Key Responsibilities

Store Operations

• Manage the overall day-to-day operations of the retail store.
• Ensure smooth opening, closing, and daily functioning of the store.
• Maintain store standards, visual merchandising, cleanliness, and product presentation.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, SOPs, safety standards, and statutory requirements.
• Monitor store expenses and control operational costs.
• Coordinate with warehouse, procurement, finance, marketing, and head-office teams.

Sales & Business Development

• Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales and revenue targets.
• Develop and implement store-level sales strategies and promotional activities.
• Monitor daily sales performance and identify opportunities to improve revenue.
• Drive upselling, cross-selling, and customer conversion initiatives.
• Analyze sales trends, product performance, and customer buying patterns.
• Support local marketing activities and promotional campaigns to increase store traffic.

Customer Service

• Ensure exceptional customer service and a positive shopping experience.
• Handle customer complaints, feedback, returns, and escalations professionally.
• Develop strong relationships with key and repeat customers.
• Monitor customer satisfaction and implement corrective actions where required.

Inventory Management

• Monitor stock levels and ensure optimum inventory availability.
• Coordinate stock replenishment based on sales trends and demand.
• Ensure accurate receiving, storage, transfer, and issuance of merchandise.
• Conduct regular stock counts and support periodic physical inventory audits.
• Minimize stock loss, damages, expiry, and inventory discrepancies.
• Monitor slow-moving and non-moving inventory and recommend appropriate actions.

Team Management

• Recruit, train, coach, and develop store employees.
• Allocate duties, prepare staff schedules, and manage attendance.
• Set individual and team performance targets.
• Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback.
• Motivate the team to achieve sales and customer-service objectives.
• Ensure employees follow company policies, grooming standards, and operating procedures.

Cash & Financial Management

• Monitor daily cash handling, billing, collections, and deposits.
• Ensure accurate POS transactions and reconciliation.
• Minimize billing errors, cash shortages, and financial discrepancies.
• Monitor store profitability and operating expenses.
• Coordinate with Finance for billing, reconciliation, and reporting requirements.

Reporting & Analysis

• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly store performance reports.
• Track sales, footfall, conversion rate, average transaction value, and inventory KPIs.
• Analyze store performance and recommend improvement initiatives.
• Report operational issues, customer feedback, and business opportunities to management.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Retail Management, Marketing, Commerce, or a related field.
• 4-8 years of experience in retail operations, preferably with 2+ years in a supervisory or managerial role.
• Strong knowledge of retail sales, store operations, inventory management, and customer service.
• Experience managing and motivating a frontline retail team.
• Good understanding of POS systems and inventory/ERP software.
• Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• MBA or postgraduate qualification in Retail Management, Marketing, or Business Administration.
• Experience in FMCG, fashion, electronics, consumer durables, lifestyle, automotive, or other retail sectors.
• Experience managing high-volume stores or multiple departments.
• Knowledge of visual merchandising and retail analytics.

Reporting Structure

Reports To: Area Manager / Regional Manager / Retail Operations Manager

Team Managed: Sales Executives, Customer Service Executives, Cashiers, Store Assistants, and other store personnel.

Working Conditions

• Full-time retail position.
• Requires working in shifts, including weekends and public holidays as per business requirements.
• Requires prolonged standing and active involvement on the sales floor.
• May require occasional travel for training, meetings, or operational requirements.
