IT Infrastructure Ops Manager

Salary: $115,008 - 154,656 per year Requirements:

• We require seven years of proven experience in an infrastructure or similar role.
• We require five years of experience leading a team of technology professionals within a tiered service management support model.
• We need working-level knowledge and progressive experience managing technical staff proactively and independently.
• We need experience developing collaborative tactical and strategic plans, including technology roadmaps.
• We need experience creating vendor statements of work for compute, storage, network, device management, and technology support services.
• We need experience drafting, implementing, and enforcing technology policies and standard operating procedures.
• We need experience in technology contract and vendor management.
• We need experience establishing IT customer service standards and service level agreements.
• We need experience managing IT projects using recognized methods such as PMI.
• We need experience applying IT security standards.
• We need experience defining infrastructure management standards for server operations, cloud hosting, and network administration.
• We need the ability to implement and maintain workstation hardware and software standards.
• Preferred experience includes working knowledge of Washington budget development, bill analysis, and fiscal note analysis processes.

• We provide direct supervision to infrastructure and device management staff, setting clear objectives and expectations.
• We establish short-term goals and long-term technical and strategic roadmaps, involving staff in the planning process when possible.
• We review position descriptions, performance expectations, and evaluations with supervised employees at least twice a year.
• We mentor, coach, train, counsel, and motivate staff to sustain high performance.
• We assess workload across multiple initiatives to determine staffing needs, capacity, and constraints.
• We communicate division and agency priorities to staff and gather input and feedback.
• We monitor performance against role requirements, policies, and standards, and apply corrective or disciplinary action when needed.
• We build a learning culture by supporting training and cross-training so our team remains a center of excellence and avoids single points of failure.
• We ensure life cycle management standards are documented, communicated, maintained, and refreshed regularly.
• We define operational procedures that align technical delivery with the agencys strategic direction.
• We perform cost, benefit, and risk analyses for projects, changes, acquisitions, policies, and legislation.
• We develop, update, monitor, communicate, and enforce agency policies and procedures for security, data management, application management, and IT investments.
• We coordinate technology solutions using best practices, enterprise architecture principles, and industry standards.
• We prepare budget proposals and operational expenditure statements and research options to support fiscal recommendations.
• We ensure business, functional, and technical requirements guide builds and configurations.
• We represent IT services to customers, keep ticket statuses current, and relay questions and feedback to the appropriate managers or staff.
• We work with stakeholders to define business needs and system requirements for new or updated technology solutions.
• We confirm functional and non-functional requirements are documented and approved before procurement.
• We develop requirements for statements of work, help create procurement documents, and evaluate vendor proposals.
• We promote cost optimization and actively monitor contracts to determine whether to renew or replace services.
