Reporting to the Chief Legal Officer, this position supports legal operations across the organization and provides counsel on a diverse range of matters, including contracts, employment law, healthcare operations, regulatory compliance, policy review, and enterprise initiatives.This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney interested in developing broad in-house legal experience while collaborating with leaders across a healthcare organization. The Staff Attorney will manage legal matters with increasing independence, with guidance and oversight from the Chief Legal Officer.Applicants claiming Indian Preference must complete the full application and must provide documentation verifying eligibility (such as a tribal enrollment card or Certificate of Degree of Indian Blood (CDIB)).Job duties include, but are not limited to:Review, draft, and negotiate vendor contracts, purchase orders, service agreements, amendments, and other business agreements.Review and negotiate student and clinical affiliation agreements, memoranda of understanding, and professional services agreements.Provide day-to-day employment law guidance to directors and managers regarding hiring, discipline, leave, accommodations, separations, and other personnel matters.Partner with Human Resources on workplace investigations and personnel actions.Review employee and applicant background check results for legal sufficiency and Fair Credit Reporting Act compliance.Conduct legal research regarding regulatory, compliance, employment, and operational matters and prepare legal memoranda and recommendations for the Chief Legal Officer.Review organizational policies and procedures for legal sufficiency.Assist with business associate agreement compliance, vendor onboarding documentation, and federal contract flow-down requirements.Provide guidance and training to employees regarding contractual requirements and compliance obligations.Review provider letters for legal sufficiency prior to release.Assist with regulatory inquiries, audits, and other compliance matters.Communicate and negotiate with vendors, counterparties, and outside counsel as directed by the Chief Legal Officer.Support litigation management, enterprise initiatives, and other legal matters as assigned.What We OfferThe Clinic provides a comprehensive benefits package to support our team membersand their families, including:100% employer-paid medical and dental coverage for employees and dependentsLife insurance for employees and dependents401(k) retirement plan with a 5% automatic employer contribution (no employee match required)Generous paid time off starting at 15 days in year one, increasing to 30 days after one year of service, with further increases based on tenure12 paid holidays plus a paid birthday day offPTO buyback option (up to 40 hours per year)Professional membership and subscription reimbursementCertification and licensure exam reimbursementUp to 5 hours per week of paid education leaveDaily paid wellness breaks and access to onsite wellness centersAnnual wellness reimbursement for gym memberships and fitness activitiesEmployee Assistance Program (EAP) available immediately upon hireAccess to Clinic healthcare services for eligible employeesBenefits are subject to eligibility requirements and Clinic policies.The Oklahoma City Indian Clinic is a non-profit organization and not a federal employer.
