Job Summary:

The Department of Cell and Regenerative Biology in the School of Medicine and Public Health (SMPH) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is pleased to invite applications for entry level assistant professor tenure-track faculty. We seek outstanding candidates in all areas of developmental, stem cell and regenerative biology disciplines, as the Department continues a multi-year plan for growth in this area.

The successful candidate will have a primary expectation to develop and maintain an independent, externally funded research program that complements existing strengths of the department and embraces our commitment to inter-disciplinary collaboration. The successful candidate will also participate in teaching, and in professional, public and university service appropriate to the faculty rank to support the scholarly and clinical missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health. An essential part of these duties will be working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members.

We seek accomplished scientists developing independent research programs in cell biology, developmental biology, stem cell biology, and/or regenerative biology. We welcome applicants with expertise in developmental and cell biology, quantitative biology, imaging, stem cell biology, mechanisms of tissue regeneration, signaling, or mechanobiology, particularly those whose work leverages computational or AI-driven approaches. This hire will build on existing strategic strength in this area within the Department of Cell and Regenerative Biology and across the university, including at the Morgridge Institute for Research.

Candidates with the most competitive applications will be invited to a videoconference interview with the search committee; those most highly rated in that stage and whose programs align well with departmental priorities, will be invited for an in-person interview.

This position requires work to be completed onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Key Job Responsibilities:

• Develop a vigorous and internationally recognized research program, 75-80% effort will be expected on research; earning and maintain extramural funding is expected.

• Participate in administrative and committee work to support the scholarly missions of the School of Medicine and Public Health. An essential part of these duties will be working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members. (~5% effort)

• Teach and mentor graduate, undergraduate and medical students within the field of Cell and Regenerative Biology (~10-15% effort)

Research is supported by modern shared facilities including the the UW Optical Imaging Core, UW-Madison Flow Cytometry Laboratory, Center for High Throughput Computing, and many others. Cell and Regenerative faculty mentor graduate students in several graduate programs across campus and the department holds a new T32 for graduate training in developmental, stem cell and regenerative biology.
