Survey Party Chief At David Evans and Associates, Inc., our Surveying and Geomatics team seamlessly merges tradition with cutting‑edge technology. We provide a comprehensive suite of geomatics services including aerial LiDAR, topographic surveys, construction surveys, and BIM modeling, delivering precision and innovation to all clients. We are searching for a Survey Party Chief to work in Spokane, WA. This role involves managing a survey crew or working independently to conduct boundary, topography, ALTA, right‑of‑way, and construction surveys for public and private clients. The Survey Party Chief will operate and maintain survey equipment, collect and process field data, perform calculations, and collaborate with DEA staff and clients. This position also provides direction, mentoring, and coaching to crew members to support professional growth. Key Responsibilities Manage and perform boundary, topography, ALTA, right‑of‑way, and construction surveys Operate and maintain survey equipment, including Trimble total stations, Trimble GPS equipment, and Leica electronic levels Collect and process field data; perform complex survey computations using software such as Trimble Business Center and Leica Maintain detailed and accurate field notes, data collection files, and computation sheets Inspect and verify accuracy of deliverables before submissionCoordinate, lead, and mentor survey crew personnel Required Qualifications Minimum of 8 years of experience in boundary and construction surveying At least 5 years of experience managing a field crew High school diploma or equivalent Valid driver’s license with the ability to operate vehicles in Washington or Idaho Willingness to travel out of town for up to 10 days at a time Preferred Qualifications LSIT certification Bachelor’s degree in Surveying or a related field Proficiency with Trimble instruments Experience with laser scanning technology Familiarity with WSDOT and ITD safety and survey requirements What We Offer We foster an environment where talented professionals have the freedom and support to do their most meaningful work.
