Job Title: Medical Assistant
Location: Houston, TX 77030 (Medical Center Campus & Floating to Regional Clinics)
Duration: 13 Weeks Contract (Potential Extension)
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM (Must be flexible for occasional 5:30 AM starts during flu vaccination events)
Job Summary
We are seeking a customer-focused Medical Assistant to support a high-volume vaccination program across multiple clinic locations. This role is responsible for welcoming patients, coordinating patient flow, scheduling support, and delivering exceptional customer service while ensuring an efficient and positive clinic experience.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients, families, and visitors in a professional, courteous, and culturally sensitive manner.
- Assist patients with appointment questions, wait times, and clinic processes.
- Communicate patient arrivals, delays, and scheduling updates with providers and clinical staff.
- Monitor patient flow and notify leadership of prolonged wait times.
- Coordinate interpreter services when needed.
- Support flu vaccination events and assist with clinic operations across multiple locations.
- Participate in staff meetings, mandatory training, and process improvement initiatives.
- Maintain accurate documentation and escalate issues to supervisors as appropriate.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Nationally Registered Medical Assistant Required (Through NHA, AMT, NRCMA, NCMA, AAM)
- Experience in a healthcare, medical office, patient access, or customer service environment.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, appointment scheduling, and patient care workflows.
- Strong communication, organizational, multitasking, and customer service skills.
- Proficient with computers and standard office equipment.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Flexibility to travel between regional clinic locations as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual in English and Spanish .
- Experience supporting vaccination or ambulatory clinic operations.
