LEAD Tutor

Western University of Health Sciences invites applicants for a temporary/contract Tutor position within the LEAD Tutorial Assistance Program (TAP). The role involves facilitating small-group and large-group tutoring sessions to improve student academic skills and encourage independence. Job Summary Under direction, the Tutor will work regularly with a group of 5–10 students through the LEAD tutorial assistance program (TAP), providing effective facilitation to enhance academic skills and mastery of subject material. Sessions will be conducted virtually and may be held on campus. The Tutor will also plan, prepare, and deliver large-group review sessions and adhere to LEAD Tutor guidelines and documentation policies. Key Responsibilities Provide small-group tutoring to students. Plan, prepare, and deliver on-campus and virtual large-group review sessions. Create an atmosphere of mutual trust and support within the tutoring group through facilitation. Follow all policies and procedures outlined in the LEAD Master Tutor Training Manual. Complete initial orientation and training. Organize and maintain an electronic attendance log for tutoring sessions. Communicate tutoring session meeting times and on-campus locations. Attend additional training workshops or meetings as scheduled. Mentor new tutors as directed by the LEAD Director. Collaborate with the LEAD office to resolve tutoring issues (academic or personal). Perform additional duties related to supporting TAP operations. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Good verbal and written communication skills to interact with faculty, staff, students, and external contacts. Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Google Docs, and other required software). Working knowledge of the Internet. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree (required). Some doctoral or professional experience required. Must be an admitted student at Western University of Health Sciences, in good academic standing, and have received a grade of "B" or higher in the course(s) to be able to tutor. Preferred Qualifications None listed. Work Schedule Work hours not to exceed 10 hours biweekly. Payment Hourly rate: $17.00 (minimum and maximum). Physical Demands Job requires frequent use of hands, reaching, stooping, and sitting. Occasional standing and walking. Occasional lifting or moving up to 10 pounds with assistance.
