Ophthalmic Assistant

Job Summary

Our client is seeking an Ophthalmic Assistant to join their team. The primary role is to provide support in clinical operations through accurate documentation, management of billing integrity, and ensuring efficient patient flow.

Key Responsibilities

• Clinical Documentation: Transcribe physician discourse in real time during medical assessments, accurately recording patient histories, diagnostic evaluations, and therapeutic strategies promptly.
• Coding & Administration: Maintain coding integrity using accurate ICD-10 and CPT designations, process chart amendments, assist with insurance verifications, and schedule adjustments.
• Provider & Patient Support: Anticipate provider needs, assist with procedures, prepare exam rooms, and perform basic ophthalmic technician duties.
• Care Coordination: Ensure patients understand discharge instructions and collaborate with front-desk staff to finalize follow-up care and documentation before patient departure.

Qualifications

• Experience in an ophthalmology office as a scribe for at least 6 months.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Bachelor's degree, in Bachelor of Science or currently in Medical School is preferred.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.
• Scribe certification is preferred.

Experience

• At least 6 months of experience as a scribe in an ophthalmology office.

• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
