Sr. Manager, Program and Project Management-Pharmacy Accounts and Sales Support

Job Description The Pharmacy team provides pharmacy benefit management services and strategies to support Blue Shield of California’s affordability and membership goals. As Sr. Manager, Program and Project Management, you will provide pharmacy accounts and sales support and report to the Director, Pharmacy Services. Your responsibilities include supporting pharmacy membership growth and retention strategies, leading the pharmacy accounts and sales support team for employer group account management and client renewal, driving new membership acquisition for fully insured and self‑funded pharmacy membership, and contributing to pharmacy product and initiative strategy development. The role is part of a leadership model that focuses on developing leaders at all levels, fostering high‑performing teams and continuous learning. Responsibilities Partner with business unit teams to support planning and develop pharmacy strategies that align with business unit growth and profitability objectives. Work with business unit sales and management teams to develop and complete competitive pharmacy request for proposal (RFP) strategies and responses. Collaborate with underwriting to develop pharmacy pricing and guarantee strategy for self‑funded groups to improve competitive position. Lead the development and maintenance of an integrated pharmacy value story to support membership growth and retention. Manage team and work cross‑functionally to resolve pharmacy client issues, respond to daily inquiries, and ensure client contract guarantees and deliverables are met. Guide the team in providing pharmacy consultative support and develop training tools, presentations, sales collateral on product offerings to support sales. Participate actively in client renewals, broker meetings, and finalist presentations to promote pharmacy value proposition. Qualifications College degree or equivalent experience. Minimum 10 years of relevant experience, including 4 years of management experience. Experience presenting pharmacy program value and observations to clients, brokers, and consultants. Experience in pharmacy benefit client contracting with understanding of pharmacy contracting tactics and marketplace requirements. Excellent presentation, verbal, and written skills with the ability to convey complex ideas to diverse audiences. Strong business acumen with proven experience in strategy development and planning. Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Hybrid This role requires employees to be in‑office based on the hybrid workplace model, balancing purposeful in‑person collaboration with flexibility. Most teams work in office two days each week. Employees living more than 50 miles from an office location work with their manager to determine in‑office time based on business need. Physical Requirements Office Environment – part‑ to full‑time schedule in office environment. Activities are sedentary, requiring most of the workday to be performed on a desk.
