We provide safety and security for our staff and the individuals in our care while protecting the residents of Prince William County. This position will involve direct contact with inmates housed at the facility.

ABOUT THIS ROLE: As a Senior Registered Nurse, you will play a pivotal role in coordinating and supervising nursing staff, ensuring efficient work schedules, and providing patient care. You will support and mentor lower-level nursing staff while delivering critical hands-on care and directly impacting patient outcomes and staff performance in our facility.

Key Responsibilities:

• Coordinate, assign, and monitor the work schedules and assignments of nursing staff to ensure optimal coverage and patient care.
• Assess staffing needs and provide direct supervision and support to lower-level staff as required.
• Deliver patient care, including medication administration, treatment implementation, vital sign monitoring, physical therapy assistance, and execution of medical procedures.
• Conduct comprehensive mental and physical patient assessments through interviews and diagnostic tools.
• Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including healthcare plans, treatments, and case histories; ensure compliance with all protocols and reporting requirements.
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment options, medication management, and counseling.
• Provide prompt emergency interventions related to patient health needs.
• Perform additional duties as necessary to support the healthcare team and facility operations.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: High School diploma or G.E.D. plus a degree or diploma from a state approved professional nursing program and 2 years of related experience. SPECIAL REQUIRMENTS: Registered Nurse License, CPR/First Aid Certification. Must pass local, state and federal background checks, have a valid driver's license, and pass a pre-employment medical assessment.

KNOWLEDGE: Supervisory principles; Customer service principles; Nursing principles and practices; Medication protocols; Modern office procedures and equipment; Recordkeeping principles; Computers and related software applications.

SKILLS: Monitoring and evaluating employees; Delegating and assigning work; Providing healthcare services; Preparing and maintaining patient records and information; Assisting with physical therapy; Performing data entry; Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.

PREFERRED SKILLS: The successful candidate will have knowledge of supervisory and customer service principles, as well as be familiar with medical terminology and nursing principles.

SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS: 10 HOUR NIGHT SHIFT (6:00pm-4:00am, 8:15pm-6:15am)

FLSA: Exempt

HIRING RANGE: $90,000.00 - $107,000.00

ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in an inherently stressful environment and involves risk to personal safety with the possible exposure to blood borne and airborne pathogens.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Positions in this class typically require climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. Very Heavy Work: Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, intense noises and travel. Must pass a pre-employment physical.
