Senior Planner

The Village of Carpentersville is seeking a full-time Senior Planner to join the Community Development Department. The Planner performs professional planning work related to zoning administration, development review, land use planning, and other community development functions such as permit review and processing as well as assisting the code compliance division. This position works closely with residents, businesses, developers, property owners, Village staff, boards and commissions, and elected officials. The Senior Planner will also assist with development applications, zoning and land use reviews, staff reports, planning studies, comprehensive planning initiatives, and economic development activities. The position provides technical assistance regarding zoning requirements, development procedures, and related Village regulations. The Senior Planner is the liaison to the Village’s Planning and Zoning Commission and may exercise supervision over consultants, interns, support staff, and part-time or temporary employees or volunteers, as assigned. A Bachelor’s Degree in urban planning or land-use or a closely related field is required. At least three to five years of progressively responsible experience in the planning field is required. Strong understanding of general zoning principles, standards, and laws, along with knowledge of current and long-range planning processes. The starting pay for this position is $84,113.40 to $98,833.24 annually, depending on qualifications (DOQ), plus an excellent benefits package including, but not limited to, vacation time, personal days, paid holidays, and participation in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) pension system. #J-18808-Ljbffr
