Johnson Service Group (JSG) is a nationally recognized professional staffing and recruiting firm that is currently looking for an Environmental Specialist, with a Science (chemistry, biology, environmental science) or engineering degree with a minimum of 15 semester hours of chemistry, to fill a contract position in Calera, AL. Primary job responsibilities include working safely, identifying and implementing corrective actions for unsafe working conditions, conducting diverse complex chemical analyses using a variety of laboratory instrumentations and analytical methodologies, ensuring analytical methods comply with regulatory and/or customer requirements, establishing and evaluating analytical data and process quality control, prioritizing and managing daily workloads, maintaining analytical instrument performances, monitoring supply inventories for assigned methodologies, consistently maintaining attention to detail while performing all job duties, and maintaining excellent lines of communication with co-workers and customers.

Job requirements include a Science (chemistry, biology, environmental science) or engineering degree with a minimum of 15 semester hours of chemistry, experience utilizing analytical reference methods and instrumentation to perform analyses, experience with quality control requirements for analytical methods, knowledge in EPA, ASTM, Standard Methods and other reference standards and their application, ability to use technical standard operating procedures to perform analyses, ability to interface with a variety of internal/external work groups and customers, demonstrated attention to detail, ability to understand technical procedures to evaluate sample data, analytical problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve instrumentation issues, ability to produce high quality work in an efficient manner, ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines, customer focus with an enthusiastic, positive attitude, initiative and flexibility as well as personal responsibility, build positive relationships as a team player, motivated self-starter with a willingness to learn, and preferred analytical experience working with gas chromatography (GC) instrumentation. This position may require some bending, lifting, climbing, prolonged sitting, prolonged walking, walking on gravel or crawling when necessary.
