Cafeteria Worker

The Bandera Independent School District Food Service Department is seeking an energetic, dependable, and customer-focused Cafeteria Worker to join the Hill Country Elementary team. This position plays an important role in providing nutritious, high-quality meals while creating a positive dining experience for students and staff. Bandera ISD operates on a 4-day instructional week (Monday-Thursday), offering employees an excellent work-life balance. Some Fridays are required based on the 2026-2027 school calendar.

Qualifications Required: High school diploma or GED preferred. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 40 pounds. Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks. Satisfactory criminal history background check. Preferred: Previous food service or cafeteria experience. Experience working in a school setting. Applicants without prior food service experience are encouraged to apply. Bandera ISD will provide on-the-job training for qualified candidates.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Prepare and serve meals in accordance with district menus and food safety guidelines.
• Assist with food preparation, portioning, and presentation.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen equipment, work areas, serving lines, and dining areas.
• Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment.
• Receive and properly store food and supplies.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
• Provide friendly and courteous customer service to students, staff, and visitors.
• Follow all local, state, and federal health, sanitation, and nutrition regulations.
• Work collaboratively with cafeteria staff to ensure efficient meal service.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Cafeteria Manager or Food Service Director.
