Underwriting Assistant I

The UNDERWRITING ASSISTANT is responsible for providing administrative support to Underwriting team, including monitoring email correspondence, and completing administrative tasks to expedite the underwriting process.

This person selected for this position will need to be local or from a surrounding area and be comfortable commuting to the office.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*
  • Analyzes submissions.
  • Prices and sells the program internally and externally.
  • Utilizes technology to compute rates and premiums for all endorsements and cancellations, verifies and transmits information and monitors renewals.
  • Gathers and investigates background information to effectively assess the risk involved and assist the underwriting team.
  • Services all accounts, including resolving agents' inquires, complaints, requests and policy processing.
BASIC AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE)
  • 1 year minimum industry experience (Preferred)
  • High School Diploma or GED (Required)
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Required)
MINIMUM JOB SKILLS, ABILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Mastery of the English language, both written and verbal.
  • Strong attention to detail, is dependable and follows through.
  • Ability to read and interpret information.
  • High level of maturity to handle sensitive and confidential situations.
  • Strong work ethic and excellent time management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with people throughout the organization.
  • Willingness to maintain a professional appearance and provide a positive company image.
  • Willingness to work non-traditional shifts which meet the needs of the team and company.
