Registered Nurse (RN) - Medical Telemetry

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our Medical Telemetry unit. This role involves providing direct patient care for individuals with various cardiovascular conditions, ensuring they receive continuous monitoring and treatment as necessary.

Shift Details

• Schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
• Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend may be required

Qualifications

• Valid MO State or Compact RN license
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Experience with IV starts and telemetry monitoring
• Familiarity with EPIC charting system preferred
• Not eligible for local candidates within a 60-mile radius

Patient Population

The Medical Telemetry unit cares for patients with a variety of needs including but not limited to:

• Routine nursing care with a 5:1 RN/Patient ratio
• Patients requiring nursing assessments and vital signs every 8 hours
• Hemodynamically stable patients with dysrhythmias
• Pre and post-operative patients requiring telemetry monitoring
• Patients with infectious diseases who require negative air flow isolation
• STEMI patients after initial ICU monitoring
• Patients requiring observation post-pacemaker or defibrillator placement
• Patients transferred from ICU or emergency departments, provided stability criteria are met

Treatment and Procedures

The unit participates in the provision of several treatments and special care procedures, including:

• Routine finger stick blood sugar monitoring
• Administration of cardiac or vasoactive drips/IV medications requiring brief titration
• Specialized procedures such as blood transfusions, fluid boluses, thoracentesis, paracentesis, central line insertion, bone marrow aspiration, and chest tube insertion
