Responsibilities Perform selected procedures under the direction of a licensed Occupational Therapist who has evaluated the patient and developed a plan of care. Provide services in compliance with regulations governing the practice of occupational therapy, taking into consideration the patient’s chronological and developmental age. Assist with implementing treatment programs, adapting goals and activities based on the patient’s age and level of development. Coordinate patient care and clinical activities through written and/or verbal communication with patients, families, therapists, Clinical Team Leaders, managers and other members of the health‑care team. Document in the patient’s medical record and complete other patient‑care–related forms in compliance with regulatory agencies and department/hospital policies and procedures. Supervise and collaborate with support staff, volunteers and students to achieve efficient clinical activity and quality patient care. Participate in other patient‑care and department/professional activities as requested/assigned, including presenting/attending in‑services, performance improvement, program development/evaluation, new‑employee orientation, committee membership, peer review and staff meetings. Work primarily indoors in clinical settings such as hospitals, nursing homes or outpatient sites; may be required to work at other Carilion facilities, and for Home Care Departments at patients’ homes. Work may also occur outside clinic settings such as driving programs, hydrotherapy or home evaluations. Requirements Education: Associate degree from an AOTA accredited program. Experience: none. Licensure/Certification: Licensed to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia; AHA BLS‑HCP required within six months of employment. Other Minimum Qualifications: Effective interpersonal, communication, customer‑service and teamwork skills.
