Head Start IT Technician

SPCAA is seeking an IT Technician to support the staff and technology used by our Head Start program. You will help center and administrative staff resolve computer problems, maintain equipment and network services, and support installations and upgrades across our service area. The role calls for patient communication, sound judgment, and care with confidential information about children, families, and employees.

What you will do

• Respond to support tickets and troubleshoot computers, software, email, printers, network connectivity, and Head Start business applications.
• Support staff with Microsoft 365 applications and accounts, and assist the IT team with Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Entra ID administration and troubleshooting.
• Set up, install, maintain, and replace computers, peripherals, and software at Head Start sites; provide practical training to staff.
• Diagnose problems with users, document solutions, and escalate issues when needed.
• Assist with routine network and server maintenance, backups, security, and malware prevention in coordination with the agency IT team.
• Maintain accurate hardware and software inventory, technical documentation, and warranty repair records.
• Help protect program data and report security or safety concerns through agency procedures.
• Work respectfully with staff and families from different backgrounds and follow Head Start standards of conduct and required reporting procedures.

Qualifications

• Experience maintaining and troubleshooting computers, software, printers, and networks. An associate degree in computer science or a related field is preferred, plus two years of relevant experience. Additional experience may substitute for education with agency approval.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook, along with strong written communication, organization, and customer service skills.
• Experience supporting Microsoft 365, Microsoft Azure, and Microsoft Entra ID, including user accounts, access, and common sign-in issues.
• Ability to manage competing requests, work independently and with a team, and travel among regional sites.
• Valid Texas driver’s license, reliable transportation for regional travel, and ability to meet agency driving and insurance requirements.
• Ability to perform the essential duties, including occasional lifting or moving of equipment up to 70 pounds, with reasonable accommodation where applicable.

Microsoft, Cisco, or CompTIA A+ certification is a plus. Experience supporting Head Start systems such as ChildPlus is helpful; the position also supports other program applications.
