Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse in Labor and Delivery is responsible for providing skilled nursing care to laboring and postpartum patients in an acute care hospital setting. This role requires collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality patient care, including patient assessments, medication administration, and treatment planning. The nurse will maintain a 1:3 patient ratio and must possess specialized certifications and experience in labor and postpartum nursing.

Responsibilities:

Provide direct nursing care to laboring and postpartum patients.
Perform patient assessments, monitor fetal and maternal well-being.
Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to develop and implement care plans.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation using Epic charting system.
Adhere to hospital policies and protocols including patient safety and infection control.
Float between similar units as needed.
Participate in a 36-hour orientation program prior to assignment.

Required Skills & Certifications:

Minimum 2 years of labor and postpartum nursing experience.
Active Registered Nurse license valid in the state of practice.
Certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate, BLS, NRP.
Ability to maintain a 1:3 patient ratio in a fast-paced acute care environment.
Strong communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

AWHONN Advanced certification.

Special Considerations:

Hard-stop requirement: labor and postpartum experience is mandatory.
Floating between like units may be required.
Locals and pending licenses are not accepted.
RTO (Return to Office) restrictions must be included at time of submission.
Facility may call off staff once per two-week pay period.

Scheduling:

Offers option for 4x12-hour shifts upon request.
Block scheduling is not available.
