Community Support Specialist (CSS)New Horizon Community Care (NHCC)$23–$25/hr • Full Benefits • Dallas/Fort WorthNew Horizon Community Care (NHCC) is seeking compassionate, dependable, and motivated Community Support Specialists (CSS) to join our growing behavioral health team in Texas.If you are passionate about helping individuals overcome challenges, develop life skills, and become more successful in their homes and communities, we would love to hear from you.About the PositionAs a Community Support Specialist, you will work directly with individuals and families experiencing behavioral health challenges. You will serve as a mentor and positive role model while providing guidance, encouragement, skill development, and community-based support.This is a hands-on position for someone who enjoys building relationships and making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.What You'll DoProvide individualized behavioral health support and mentorship.Help clients develop positive coping strategies and manage emotions and stressors.Teach and reinforce social, emotional, and independent living skills.Assist with therapeutic and psychoeducational activities.Implement behavioral interventions and approved de-escalation techniques.Build positive therapeutic relationships with clients and families.Collaborate with treatment teams and behavioral health professionals.Help connect clients and families with community resources.Recognize and appropriately respond to behavioral health crises.Maintain accurate and confidential client documentation.Participate in treatment team meetings and required supervision.Safely transport clients in company vehicles as required.Provide services in community-based settings, including homes, schools, recreational settings, and outreach programs.We're Looking for Someone WhoIs compassionate, patient, professional, and comfortable working independently in community settings. Successful candidates should have strong communication and interpersonal skills and be able to remain calm and professional during challenging situations.Minimum QualificationsMust be at least 21 years old.High school diploma or high school equivalency diploma.At least 1 year of relevant experience with the population being served.Valid, unrestricted Texas driver's license.Ability to meet required Texas fingerprint and background-check requirements.Ability to complete six weeks of full-time training and successfully pass the Community Support Specialist test at the conclusion of training.Ability to meet all required regulatory, training, and personnel requirements.Behavioral health work experience includes providing behavioral health services through an agency, directly to an individual, or in a field related to behavioral health.Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.Work EnvironmentThis is a community-based position. Services may be provided in homes, schools, recreational centers, outreach programs, and other community locations.
