Location & Shift: Mount Carmel East Hospital. Evening shift (1430 - 2300) with every 3rd weekend requirement.

Description

The Certified Pharmacy Tech (CPT) will assist the pharmacist in ensuring timely and accurate provision of medications to patients. Technician responsibilities are performed under direct supervision of a pharmacist and may include unit dose dispensing, sterile compounding, non‑sterile compounding, medication packaging, inventory control, record keeping, billing, and use of equipment and automated technology.

Elevated Compensation Program

Mount Carmel offers an elevated Certified Pharmacy Tech – Sterile Compounding compensation program for all sterile compounding trained technicians, regardless of prior experience. Upon completion of the standardized training program, approved technicians will receive elevated compensation.

What You Will Do

• Establish a working identity with our Pharmacy Team and continue to build upon our culture.
• Participate in in‑depth, role‑specific training. Team responsibilities include:
• Preparation of sterile products, including chemotherapy, using aseptic technique in compliance with regulatory standards.
• Preparation of non‑sterile products, including hazardous medication, in compliance with regulatory standards.
• Repackaging bulk oral medication using Parata Systems and Medical Packaging Inc robots.
• Facilitating medication dispensing via Automated Dispensing Cabinets on patient care units.
• Assisting in the dispensing of orders/prescriptions through the pharmacy inventory system.
• Assisting in inventory control by processing daily Pharmacy Department orders; ensuring proper stock rotation, storage, and expiration dating; escalating medication and non‑medication orders to the Purchasing Team.
• Assisting the department with proper billing of patients and other units.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: High school graduation or equivalent.
• Licensure / Certification: Approved Pharmacy Technician Certification; active registration as a Certified Tech with the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy.
• Experience: Prior pharmacy technician experience preferred.
• Effective communication skills.
• Aptitude in mathematical calculations (ratios, proportions, multiplication, division, decimals, and fractions).
• Desire to build a career and ambition to advance pharmacy knowledge to the level of a Certified Pharmacy Technician.
