Assistant General Counsel

Job Summary This is an opportunity for a motivated lawyer to provide strategic legal support to HCSC’s provider network, provider affairs, and other internal business teams supporting all aspects of HCSC provider relationships across all lines of business. In a highly complex and evolving legal and technology environment, the successful candidate will provide sound, actionable legal advice on regulatory, business, contractual, and operational matters. The position can be based in Chicago, Illinois; Richardson, Texas; Tulsa, Oklahoma; Albuquerque, New Mexico; Helena, Montana. It is a hybrid position requiring in‑office hours three days a week at the respective office location. Responsibilities Providing legal advice and support on a variety of moderately complex legal projects and assignments. Providing legal support on more routine day‑to‑day business matters with reasonable degree of independence. Working proactively with business and legal partners to identify and address potential regulatory, legal, and business risks. Managing competing deadlines and exercising sound judgment. Representing the Company in more routine litigation and administrative proceedings. Primarily overseeing litigation management and interfacing with outside counsel. Providing functional advice and guidance to legal support staff when assigned. Collaborating with legal colleagues to identify legal issues with potential cross‑functional impact. Communicating and interacting effectively and professionally with co‑workers, management, customers, and other stakeholders. Demonstrating willingness to learn and to take on new challenges. Complying with HIPAA, Diversity Principles, Corporate Integrity, Compliance Program policies, and other applicable corporate and departmental policies. Maintaining complete confidentiality of company business. Requirements Juris Doctor Degree and a license to practice law in the state where the legal department is located. At least 5 years of experience as a practicing attorney after receiving a law degree. Experience in the health care industry may substitute for legal experience. Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills. Preferred Requirements Knowledge or understanding of the health care or health insurance field. Location and Work Arrangement The position is available in Chicago, Illinois; Richardson, Texas; Tulsa, Oklahoma; Albuquerque, New Mexico; or Helena, Montana, and is a hybrid role requiring in‑office work three days per week. Pay Range Base Pay Range: $121,200.00 – $225,200.00 (exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location).
