Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) Full Time Fort Benning, GA, US 30+ days ago Requisition ID: 1054 Salary Range: $60,000.00 To $85,000.00 Annually The Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) is responsible for developing, implementing, and enforcing the Contractor’s Safety and Health Program in compliance with all applicable Federal, DoD, Army, OSHA, and installation-specific safety requirements. The SSHO ensures all BOS operations are executed safely across facilities maintenance, utilities, grounds, and infrastructure services. The SSHO performs hazard analysis, conducts inspections, manages incident reporting, and enforces compliance with safety, environmental, and occupational health standards. The SSHO serves as the primary safety liaison with the Government, ensuring all safety plans, procedures, and corrective actions meet PWS requirements and support uninterrupted, compliant operations. Tasks and Capabilities Required Develop, implement, and maintain the Accident Prevention Plan (APP) and Safety Program Conduct routine safety inspections, audits, and hazard analyses across all BOS functional areas Ensure compliance with OSHA standards and Army safety regulations for all operations Investigate accidents/incidents and submit required reports within mandated timelines Provide safety training and ensure all personnel meet safety certification requirements Coordinate with COR/ACOR on safety compliance, deficiencies, and corrective actions Monitor high-risk activities (confined space, electrical, excavation, utility work) and enforce safe work practices Mandatory Job Experience and Certifications Minimum 5 years of experience in construction, facilities maintenance, or BOS safety management on contracts of similar scope and complexity Demonstrated experience implementing safety programs in compliance with OSHA and DoD/Army safety requirements Experience managing accident reporting and compliance with OSHA recordkeeping requirements Certified in OSHA 30-hour (minimum); OSHA 40-hour (preferred for SSHO-level roles) Experience performing hazard analyses and enforcing safety compliance across multi-discipline operations Desirable Qualifications Experience supporting Large BASOPS contracts Familiarity with EM 385-1-1 (USACE Safety Manual) and Army safety programs Experience integrating safety into GFEBS/ArMA work planning environments Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST), or equivalent Experience supporting environmental compliance (hazardous materials, spill response, etc.) Education High School Diploma or equivalent with relevant safety experience Desired: Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Occupational Health, Engineering, or related field Security Clearance Tier 1 (CAC eligibility / favorable investigation) for installation and system access Must meet all installation access and security training requirements GENCO General Contractors of PR Corp is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
