Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: ICU Duration: 12 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 1 year in ICU License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, CCRN Must-Have: Previous charge experience preferred Patient ratio experience: 2-3 Charting system experience required Charting system name: Epic Description: The position involves caring for critically ill medical and surgical patients. Patients may include those with sepsis, cardiac arrest, cardiovascular disease, respiratory failure, alcohol or drug overdose, withdrawal, post-operative surgical care, gastrointestinal bleeding, end-of-life comfort care, and COVID-19 complications. The unit is split into two areas with a total of 12 ICU beds. The higher acuity patients are located on the upper floor with a staffing ratio of 1:2. Lower acuity patients are placed on the lower floor with a staffing ratio of 1:3, including a patient care technician. Weekend shifts are required every other week. Floating within the facility and scope of practice may be necessary. The position requires full compliance before starting on time. Major holidays may require the traveler to work, depending on the assignment period. Compliance documents must be completed in a timely manner. Skills necessary for this role include arterial line management and chest tube insertion and removal. Experience in caring for ventilated patients and central line management is essential. Interpretation of arterial blood gases and management of dysrhythmias is also required. Candidates should have experience with high flow nasal cannula and infection prevention protocols. The unit provides interdisciplinary support, including physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy assistance. This role provides an opportunity to work in a challenging yet rewarding environment with critically ill patients. Candidates will be expected to manage patients with multisystem organ dysfunction or failure.
