Must be able to pass a background check, drug screen and work weekends.

Flu shot mandatory during flu season.

The kitchen operates 7 days a week. Hours 4:30 am - 1:00 pm or 10:45 am - 7:15 pm.

Purpose of this position

The purpose of this position is to complete duties assigned to provide accurate, timely food service in order to meet resident needs in compliance with federal, state and local requirements. To maintain dietary equipment in a safe, sanitary manner.

Delegation of authority

Authority is delegated to the individual in this position to:

· Follow menus and prepare food and beverages.

· Organize duties to complete tray service in a timely manner.

· Ensure kitchen equipment and surfaces are clean and sanitized according to dietary procedures.

· Store food in compliance with dietary procedures.

This position reports to: Food Service Supervisor/Dietary Manager

1. Follow oral and written directions.

2. Set up trays and food service carts accurately and timely.

3. Serve and bus trays.

4. Pour and cover beverages.

5. Assist in preparing, covering and labeling food.

6. Clean work area.

7. Assist in the proper care, use, cleaning and storage of kitchen equipment.

8. Attend in-service training programs for Food Service employees and as assigned.

9. Follow infection control procedures related to the Dietary department.

10. Follow facility safety program.

11. Accept assigned duties in a cooperative manner.

12. Assume accountability for data contained in the employee handbook.

13. Perform other related duties as directed by his/her supervisor.

14. Perform all duties assigned in an effective, timely and professional manner.

15. Follow infection prevention and control procedures at all times.

16. Follow Resident Rights policies at all times.

17. Observe all facility policies and procedures.

18. Assume Quality Assurance duties as assigned.

19. Report for work in neat, clean attire and consistently present an appropriate professional appearance.

20. Report for work as scheduled and consistently demonstrate dependability and punctuality.

21. Consistently work cooperatively with residents, residents' representatives, facility staff, physicians, consultants and ancillary service providers.

22. Agree not to disclose assigned user ID and password for accessing resident/facility information. Promptly report any suspected or known unauthorized access, use, or disclosure of such information to supervisor.

23. Serve food in accordance with established portion control procedures.

24. Assist in daily or scheduled cleaning duties, in accordance with established policies and procedures.

25. Clean work tables, meat blocks, refrigerators/freezers, etc.

26. Sweep and mop floors as directed.

27. Carry out garbage and keep work areas clean, dry and free of hazardous equipment, supplies, etc.

28. Assist cook in preparing meals.

29. Distribute and collect menus as necessary.

30. Make only authorized food substitutions.

31. Assist in food preparation for special meals, for parties, etc.

32. Agree not to disclose resident's protected health information and promptly report suspected or known violations to the Administrator.

33. Ensure that department computer workstations left unattended are properly logged off or the password protected screen saver activates within established facility policy guidelines.

34. Report suspected resident abuse immediately to the Administrator.

35. Report all accidents/incidents to your supervisor no matter how minor they may be. Report such occurrences on the shift in which they occur.
