Unit Notes Profile review+Manager Interview SIMs Lab: All RNs will be expected to complete SIMs Lab for Foley catheter insertion & central line dressing changes. The hospital expects that every nurse is competent in these areas, especially maintaining sterile field, as these are nursing skills that are performed frequently. Clinician must take and pass dysrhythmia exam within two attempts prior to signing contract. If clinician fails to score 80% in two attempts, then they will be DNU for CS AZ and Sacramento for 6 months. Radius Rule: 50 miles AND candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity within the past year.

ER/Trauma Center # beds/trauma bays 20 Do you have a Fast track intake model Do you have a separate Triage area & do you allow/require travelers to do Triage? Yes and yes if needed Do you have a separate holding area in the ER or are ER holds intermixed w/in the ER? Holds are intermixed. Sometimes staffing resources can send a floor RN to help with holds, but otherwise ED RNs manage their own holds as part of their 1:4 assignment. Do you have separate Psych/seclusion rooms? Required Certifications ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NIHSS, BLS Common diagnoses/Types of patients abd pain, chest pain, MI, stroke, geriatrics, high-acuity Experience or 'Must have' skills minimum 2 years ED experience, Cerner exp preferred ED Physicians/Mid-Levels Both, 2-4 providers on throughout the day Charge Nurse/House Supervisor Yes both Nurse Aids/Paramedics/Patient sitters Yes ED Techs, Paramedics, pt sitters when staffing can provide EMR Cerner RT Equipment (Vents, Cpap, BiPap, High Flow, etc.) Does RT do ABG's, breathing tx, EGS's? Yes all equipment used regularly. RT does ABGs and SVNs, ED staff do EKGs Is there tele on this unit? Monitor Techs? RNs read strips? Yes central monitoring for all beds and halls except intake. No monitor techs. RNs read strips X-Ray or CT in the ER? Transport? Radiology is adjacent to ED. Have house transporters, not always available Phlebotomy or nurse draw Nurse or ED Techs draw off IV starts, phleb for other draws or blood cultures Shifts & Scheduling midshifts may be 11-11, 12-12, or 2-2, nights 1900-0700. We prefer to give travelers block schedule rotations. Weekend Requirement Every other weekend is the minimum Holiday Requirement Same as staff holiday rotations, 2 major holidays per year Is there a call or standby requirement?
